Suzie has overcome some challenges in her life. After coming back into Nova Pooch Rescue’s care a year ago it was revealed that Suzie was suffering from Steroid Responsive Inflammatory Meningoencephalitis, which was causing her severe neck pain and stiffness. Suzie was placed on steroids that kept her relatively pain free and leading a normal life for a couple of months; however the medication also caused her to suffer from demodectic mange.
After many months of dietary adjustments and drug free, natural remedies to control both the meningoencephalitis and eradicate the mange problem, Suzie is now stable and looking for a new family to call her own!
Although Suzie has been dealt a less than fortunate hand….or should that be paw??!! she has maintained a very sweet, loyal and fun loving demeanour. She is a quirky but loving little lady who enjoys the company of her human companions. Whether it is watching television or pottering around with them as they go about their daily chores, Suzie will be by her human’s side.
Suzie is happy to have another small dog companion but would also thrive on being an only dog where she can be the centre of attention. She enjoys going out for drives and short walks, and REALLY loves her food although it is essential that Suzie continues a fairly strict natural diet in order to maintain a healthy weight and reduce the chances of future ailments affecting her immune system.
Ideally Suzie would be suited to a family where she will have plenty of human companionship, perhaps a family that works part time, retired or semi- retired would be best suited to this little lady. Suzie will require a special family that is observant, empathetic and understanding of her long-term health care from a holistic viewpoint. She also needs a home where there are not large flights of stairs that she is required to climb often.
Overall Suzie is a happy little dog, who will initially bark at unfamiliar people and noises in and around her home but will make friends with people very quickly, as she just adores attention from anyone and everyone and often her barking is actually to gain attention from the people around her.
Suzie is housetrained but can require some coaxing out in wet weather to do her business.
Suzie has an easy care medium length coat that will require brushing every few days to keep it looking tidy and tangle free.
If you would like to meet this little sweetheart she is waiting for you in foster care at Metford, NSW; Date of Birth: 01/01/2009
